This is Also Motherhood

Portraits of mental health, strength and survival

An exhibition exploring the realities of perinatal mental health

This is Also Motherhood is a new exhibition from the Maternal Mental Health Alliance (MMHA) and award-winning artist Carolyn Mendelsohn, reflecting the diverse realities of mental health before, during and after pregnancy through portrait and still life photography, intimate audio interviews, and the written word.

We are pleased to be able to share the This is Also Motherhood film, which showcases the exhibition and the stories of our 10 contributors.

    About Phillips

    The venue

We were delighted to return to the heart of Mayfair, London, to partner once again with Phillips, the generous hosts of MMHA's 10-year anniversary celebration. This time, they’ve kindly donated their stunning space for the inaugural This is Also Motherhood exhibition.

We’re deeply grateful to the Phillips team for their enthusiasm and support, and are so pleased to have been able to show this powerful work in such an inspiring setting.

    What's next?

The exhibition is just the beginning. This is Also Motherhood will continue online, in print, and through the voices of parents. Together, we hope to build a more realistic, compassionate understanding of what it really means to become a parent.

We'd love to tour the exhibition. If you have a space and a gap in your schedule, please contact comms@maternalmentalhealthalliance.org.
