The Maternal Mental Health Alliance (MMHA) Board of Trustees is delighted to announce the appointment of Nikki Wilson as our new Chief Executive Officer.
With an impressive third-sector career spanning over 20 years, Nikki has successfully tackled complex strategic challenges and built impactful organisations from scratch, including Wings for Life UK, Read International and MMHA member Make Birth Better. Nikki has a long-held passion for leading meaningful social change rooted in community-led initiatives, and her deep commitment to perinatal mental health is shaped by her lived experience of birth trauma and PTSD.
I feel incredibly honoured and delighted to be joining the MMHA. As an organisation they bring together everything I care about; collaboration, community and positive change in perinatal mental health.
Nikki Wilson
“We are so pleased to be welcoming Nikki to the MMHA shortly. With her expertise in campaigning, alongside her personal experience, Nikki brings an in-depth understanding and passion for the MMHA's work that will guide us as we continue to grow and make progress. We’re confident Nikki will help our organisation move even closer to ensuring every woman and family across the UK gets the perinatal mental health support they need and deserve.”
Nikki is set to take on the role of CEO towards the end of May 2025, following the interim leadership of Justin Irwin. The MMHA would like to express our thanks to Justin for guiding the Alliance so successfully during this period of transition.
