The Parent Gap

Supporting new parents' and carers' mental health at work

What is The Parent Gap?

The Parent Gap is a collaboration between the Maternal Mental Health Alliance and PANDAS which aims to help businesses create mentally safe, supportive work environments for trying, expecting and new parents, and carers.

Recognising the unique pressures that parents and carers face, The Parent Gap will offer companies dedicated resources, training, and guidance.

Why parental mental health at work matters

Mental illness is the most common health complication of pregnancy and the postnatal period. Yet, despite its prevalence, awareness, understanding, and support for perinatal mental health remain limited, especially in the workplace. Conversations around fertility, pregnancy and parenting at work are growing, but the focus on mental health is still lagging behind.
