How to become a member, the criteria and how we work together

As an alliance, we are collectively dedicated to ensuring women and families affected by perinatal mental problems have access to high-quality compassionate care and support. With 130 member organisations, which include service user-led organisations, Royal Colleges and charities, we bring the maternal mental health community together and make change happen by combining the power of real-life experience with clinical and professional expertise.

Join us to share expertise, energy and passion to drive the change needed for women, babies, and their families impacted by perinatal mental health problems.

Become a member

Membership criteria

To become a member, your organisation will need to fulfil the following criteria:

    • National UK organisation (or working across one of the four nations)
    • Charity or not-for-profit
    • Committed to the MMHA vision and values
    • Do not pose an unacceptable risk to the reputation or operation of the MMHA
    • Support and guidance offered by member organisations, where appropriate, must adhere to NICE/SIGN guidelines
    • Support the MMHA, examples could include (not exhaustive) communications, room provision, policy guidance, pro bono expertise, EDI guidance

Joining the membership

Joining the MMHA gives you and your organisation an opportunity to work with 130 organisations to maximise opportunities to bring about change for women and families. Being part of the Alliance provides a chance to make vital connections and partnerships, share with and learn from others, and gain regular access to current information and news.

Meetings of the whole Alliance occur three times a year and frequent opportunities are given to participate in other relevant events and workshops.
